Monmouthshire and Gwent is a recently formed branch of WHGT.

Thursday 23rd March at 2.00  Cyfartha Castle Museum, Cyfartha Park, Brecon Road, Merthyr Tydfil, CF47 8PA  

AGM  followed by a lecture on "The Most Glorious Prospect", 250 years of garden visiting in Wales, by Bettina Harden.
The speaker, Bettina Harden, past Chairman of the WHGT for 6 years and founder and Chairman of Trustees of The Gateway Gardens Trust will speak about her new book due to be published in May 2017.

Tea to follow.  Tickets: £12 per head (non members £15).

The AGM and lecture will take place in the Wedding Room, on the ground floor, entrance through main reception. 
There is a small cafe in the museum where lunch can be bought. 

Follow 'brown' signs to the castle from the A465, Heads of the Valley Road.

Friday 23rd June  at 4.30  Allt-y-bela, Llaneview, Usk, NP15 1EZ. 
Arne Maynard has very kindly invited members to spend a late summer afternoon/early evening in his lovely garden.
Drinks and nibbles included.  Limited places. Tickets: £35 members (£40 non members). 
Parking limited so car sharing from Usk Castle car park, details to be confirmed.

Wednesday 12th July 2.00 Westwell Manor, Westwell, Nr. Burford, Oxon OX18 4JT  
Visit to the lovely seven acre gardens of a 16th century stone manor house that the late Anthea Gibson and her husband, Thomas Gibson, bought in 1979.
It was Anthea who was responsible for the wonderful gardens aided by a team of gardeners and David Baldwin who worked with Anthea for 30 years will be our guide. 
The tour lasts about an hour. Parking available in the village. Limited places.  Tickets £35 members (£40 non members).  No refreshments.

It is suggested that members car share for this trip.  Burford Garden Centre is a few miles away where there is a choice of eateries and tempting things to buy!

'The Triumph of Craftsmanship' by John Thorneycroft, LVO, FSA, RIBA. 
We are extremely fortunate
to have John as one of our own.
was the former Head of Government Historic Estates Unit of  English Heritage.
His special projects included the restoration of Hampton Court Palace, Uppark and

Windsor Castle after the fire in 1992. 
His lecture will be on the restoration of  historic interiors and bricks. 

Tickets including a light supper £20 members (£25 non members).
